Scripture engagement for children (Chris)
Chris has written the curriculum series ‘Lessons from Luke’ and ‘Lessons from Acts’ for children's ministry in the African church (see link below). Interested language groups translate these lessons into their own languages with the help of an internet-based web app. Chris supports the translators with technical questions, printing the lessons and accompanying picture books, and conducts training on how to use the materials.
Literacy (Carolin)
Carolin works with teachers in two villages to ensure that children first learn to read, write and do arithmetic in their own language. To this end, she has written lessons for a two-year preschool programme and, together with the parents, translated a hundred stories into their language, thus laying the foundation for a small library. One of the goals of the preschool is to make it easier for children to succeed in primary school where lessons are taught in the national language, a language that the children first have to learn. The preschool team is proud that all of its students to date are among the best in their primary school classes.
